Welcome to #WCR Albert Riera
West Coast Rangers F.C. are delighted to announce the appointment of Albert Riera as Northern League Premier Men’s Head Coach for the 2021 season.
Albert has made an immediate impact with the club, taking the helm on an interim basis this weekend and guiding the team to their first point of the season as a result of a thrilling 3-3 draw with Bay Olympic.
The entire club is hugely excited by what the future may bring with Albert at the helm.
Andy Dunn, Director of Football said “Albert has so much to offer, having played at the highest levels in New Zealand with the Wellington Phoenix and Auckland City, and we can’t wait to see how his wisdom and experience can benefit our Premier Men's program and the club as a whole.”
His playing career includes many highlights, notably playing with Auckland City at two FIFA Club World Cup campaigns in Japan in 2011 and 2012, and three OFC Champions League victories in 2011, 2012 and 2013), followed by three seasons with Wellington Phoenix from 2013-2016.
During this time he was named player of the tournament OFC Champions League 2011-12 and player of the year at the Phoenix in 2013-14, plus Albert played a full 90 minutes for the A-League All Stars team against Juventus - playing in midfield alongside Alessandro Del Piero and against a side including Paul Pogba and Andrea Pirlo.
