The West Coast Rangers Way
Following the West Coast Rangers playing philosophy and curriculum, our Academy program is dedicated to providing all players a fun and challenging training environment that will grow their skills and increase their enjoyment of football.
It covers our Fun Football (ages 7-8) and Junior Football (ages 9-12) programs which regularly involve over 500 active young players on the grass every week.
The Academy is staffed with our professional coaches and is overseen by our Director of Football Andy Dunn and his coaching staff. Each of our Academy Head coaches will hold a Junior Level 3 and our assistant coaches will hold at least a Junior Level 2 NZF coaching qualification.
We are progressing with our coaching plans and in conjunction with Northern Region Football to attain accredited New Zealand Football Skills Center status very soon.
Entry to the academy is open for all players at Fun Football level (ages 7-8). At this age we will run 2 x 8 week terms during schoool terms 2 and 3, at a cost of $80 per team. If you are considering entering your age 7-8 year old child in the Academy, contact us now to register your interest.
For Junior Football players (ages 9-12) entry to the academy is via trials help at the start of each season, or by invitation from a West Coast Rangers coach thereafter. The trials for the 2021 season have now been completed, and players that participated will soon be informed if they have been selected for the Academy.
Players who reach age 13 move into youth level football and become eligible for the West Coast Rangers Development Squad. The Development Squad is designed to prepare players for competitive youth football and ultimately developing players for the key Under 17 and Under 23 age grade sides which are the primary 'feeder' grades for senior football in New Zealand. Find out more about the Development Squad here.
