First Kicks & Fun Football (4 - 8 years)

West Coast Rangers runs NZ Football's award-winning 'Whole of Football' programme. This is a grassroots programme designed to retain and develop young players while ensuring that all players learn the skills they need to enjoy the game.

On the Saturday morning, each team participates in short skills sessions, followed by a number of short, small-sided games. The key focus of these sessions are to provide an introduction to ball mastery and physical literacy for each player while ensuring everybody has FUN!

Grades

The "Whole of the Football" programme comprises of grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  At the completion of 8th grade, players move on to Junior Football.

• First Kicks - Grades 4, 5 and 6
• Fun Football - Grades 7 and 8

Players are placed in grades according to their age on January 1st.  All teams are mixed - boys and girls playing together.

Season Dates

The 2025 season will commence on Saturday 27th April and will finish late September to coincode with school terms two and three.

Generally, there is no football during the middle weekends of the school holidays, however we do play on the first and final weekends.

Game Day + Times

We have a range of Whole of Football options for our players to choose from in 2025. This year will be introducing a Friday night option (at Fred Taylor only) for our U7-U8 players. Below are the times and locations available for our WoF players to choose from:

West Coast Rangers has two locations to play at: Fred Taylor Park and Huapai Domain.  Click here for address and field maps.

You will be able to specify your preferred location and training day when you register online.

Fees

The cost to register for both First Kicks and Fun Football is $160.00.

Club Uniform

Each player needs to have their own club shirt, shorts and socks, as well as boots and shinpads.  You can buy online from the WCR Gear Shop
