Youth Football at West Coast Rangers comprises grades 13, 14, 15 and 16. After 16th grade (under 17's), players move on to Senior Football.

Youth grade teams participate in inter-club competitions, so will have both home and away games. Times of games are generally consistent, but may sometimes vary from week to week depending on location, weather conditions and field availability.

The 2023 football season will start in early May and will finish in late September to coincide with school terms two and three.

Generally, there will be no football over the middle weekends of school holidays but there will be football on the first and last weekend. More detailed schedule information will be available closer to the season start.

At this age all girls play in a girls-only teams. Some girls may, depending on ability, choose to play womens senior football.

There are two types of teams at Youth Football grades:

  • Development Squad Teams – These are the top teams for each of our youth grades at the club and are for players that wish to train and play two/three times a week with a dedicated professional coach at an additional cost. Players will need to attend trials in February and be invited to play in our Development Squad teams.
  • Youth Social Teams – for players who aren’t selected for the Development Squad teams or who would prefer to play a more social level of football. Teams will be put together based on preferred location, team from prior years (if any) and requests to play with friends. These teams will play grading games at the start of the season and subsequently be placed in an appropriate league to deliver a fun level of competition. These teams will typically be volunteered coached and will train once a week.

West Coast Rangers have two locations to play football, Fred Taylor Park and Huapai Domain. Players will get a choice of preferred location when they register, however some game weeks may be played at the other location. The Northern Regional Football Federation ('NRFF') administers the draws, which are available online. Any changes to this will be communicated by the team manager and/or coach.

You are able to specify your preferred location when you register online here.
