The term merger is often used, however it is important to note that what is happening is not a merger, it is an ‘amalgamation’.
A merger would see one entity join another. This means that, even if they changed to a new name, it would always be a case of one Club being absorbed into an existing entity, and one being potentially viewed by members or others outside the club as being dominant over the other.
During our discussions we wanted to keep everything equal. Both Clubs brought different things to the table, in quite an even way. On that basis we saw the Clubs amalgamating, equally transferring their activities into a new Club as being the better path.
